Let me just give everyone a fair warning. Don’t grab your credit card and sprain a finger on your way to priceline, travelocity, or cheaptickets, to nab that bargain far to LAX just yet. Don’t believe the hype. Remember last week I told you that if Florida Plays for the national championship, I thought that LSU would go to the Sugar Bowl. There is still a weekend of football to be played and USC is just not as good as they are ranked. I say that partially because it is true, but also because there is a Booty from Shrev on the team. You all know how much I dislike the Booty family.

We’ll see.

LSU Prevails

LSU beat a great football team in Arkansas today 31-26.  I am amazed at what Houston Nutt is able to do at that school.  They will do well in the SEC Championship game against Florida.

LSU Vs. ARK

LSU never plays their best on the road when they travel to Arkansas.  This year will hopefully be different.  The Hogs are ranked in the top 10, making this the fourth top 10 teams that the Tigers play on the road this season.  This road schedule is brutal.

Let’s face it.  Playing in the SEC is brutal.  It is no wonder that it is the best football conference in America.

Prognostication: LSU 24 – Arkansas 21

Zune Is Here
icon1 billjackson | icon2 Apple/Mac, Computing, Technology | icon4 11 14th, 2006| icon3No Comments »

Microsoft’s second attempt at dwindling some of Apple’s dominance in the portable media device market arrived today. The Zune is a repackaged Toshiba Gigabeat box that works with The Urge Music Store, a collaborative effort with the MTV Networks. Ironically, noon of Microsoft’s previous “play for sure” file types will play on the Zune.

I will hand it to Microsoft. It usually takes them three or four tries, but they have historically been able to dominate whatever market space they chooses to enter. Only the future sees the result of this endeavor.

I dropped by the local Best Buy and saw a sales person pushing the Zune really hard to a few people. He was touting the potential of the device, rather than its current capabilities. I had to interject just o keep him honest.

I doubt this effort from Microsoft will be the one to make a dent in the ipod’s side panels. Battery life, bulk, lack of computability with previous music libraries, wifi not enabled, and a few other little quirks will hinder this device. Not to mention brand name recognition. “Microsofts iPod” is what it is being called anyway.

This cleverly and creatively photoshoped pic about sums it up:

Clever
